Which PDA-phone can act as a HSDPA modem?

Aug 21, 2008

Question on Handhelds:

I would like to know which PDA can act as a modem for my notebook using the 3.5G connection. Are all 3.5G phones which offer speeds from 3.6 to 7.2Mbps able to act as Internet modems for my notebook? If i'm not mistaken, the Samsung Omnia offers up to 7.2Mbps in speed.

Whether or not a mobile phone or PDA-phone can be used as a modem for your notebook is not dependent on the speed of the HSDPA network. This is actually a matter of whether the software of the device allows you to use the phone as a modem.

In the case of current Windows Mobile (WM) devices, you can certainly do so easily by using the Internet Sharing application and connecting the device to your notebook using either a USB cable or Bluetooth. Being a WM device, the Omnia should have no problem fulfilling your need in this area.
